We’ve talked a lot about GTA 5 at this blog. That makes sense, because it’s one of the most highly-anticipated PC games in recent years.
Unfortunately for PC gamers, that anticipation has lasted almost as long as Duke Nukem: Forever’s anticipation. By the time GTA V is released in January 2015, we’ll have waited nearly 1.5 years for the PC version of GTA V.
But that PC version may be worth the wait because Rockstar is reportedly testing a new first-person mode for the PC.
That rumor was spotted by Redditor DrOversight. He apparently was browsing the cached version of Rockstar’s blog and found a number of revealing details which were announced, including:
-“Grand Theft Auto V for PC will also feature a video editor designed for advanced movie-making.”
-“A brand new first person mode for vehicles that shows the interior of the vehicle, including working speedometers, tachometers, dash lights, and more.”
-“A brand new first person mode while on foot.”
First person modes have been introduced to GTA IV via mods. However, this would be the first time a genuine first person mode arrived from Rockstar.
Since the initial post has been removed, it’s unlikely that all of this information is true. If it was true, then why would they remove it?
So to recap the changes made so far on next-gen/PC GTA, we have:
-New animals and wildlife (dogs and cats!)
-Denser cities with more people and more traffic
-Better resolutions, textures, and overall graphics
-Increased draw distances
-“A stunning new level of detail”
It’s refreshing to see Rockstar’s approach to GTA V ports. On both next-gen consoles and PCs, Rockstar is adding real value to the game. As someone who lined up at midnight to buy GTA V the first night it came out on Xbox 360, I can’t wait to do the same when it comes out on PC (or at least hit “Refresh” on Steam at 12:00am).
