Grand Theft Auto V was released way back in September, 2013. That’s about 1.5 years ago. Today, the PC version was delayed once more for what seems like the 100th time.
The current updated release date for GTA V on PC is April 14, 2015.
Rockstar claims that the studio needs more time to “ensure the game is as polished as possible.” It specifically states that the GTA Online and Heists experience need some work to be ready on launch day.
You can criticize Rockstar all you want, but too many game studios push a game out before its release date and then face more complaints from customers. At least Rockstar has the guts to push back its release date to make sure the game is perfect.
All PC gamers who preordered Grand Theft Auto V on PC will also get $200,000 of in-game cash for GTA Online.
Another consolation is that Rockstar claims the PC version of GTA V is their most graphically powerful and technically advanced version ever made. Specific PC enhancements include a greater level of detail throughout the world, extensive configuration options, and “support for ultra-high definition”, which many people are taking to assume that GTA V will support 4K (!!).
This isn’t some lazy port: this is a finely-tuned and polished upgrade for GTA V which surpasses the version for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Still, the repeated release date delays are getting annoying to recap, many people thought the PC version of GTA V would be released in April 2014, six months after the first release of GTA V (although Rockstar never said anything to support it).
Then, the next-gen versions of GTA V came out in November 2014, and PC gamers were told that their version was coming later, on January 27 2015. Rockstar delayed that date once again to March 24, and now again to April 14.
Who knows how long that date will stick around?
Will all these delays make the final release sweeter? Or is Rockstar just making PC gamers mad enough to avoid the game? Let us know what you think of this delay in the comments section below!
