What is Paradise ransomware? And how does it implement its attack?
Paradise ransomware is a newly discovered file-encrypting virus which uses the .paradise string which was also used in the past by another crypto-malware. Although they share the same string, they are not related in any way based on the analysis conducted by security experts. In other words, this Paradise ransomware that’s going to be discussed in this post is a new one and does not belong to any ransomware groups as it does not share any code snippets with other ransomware threats.
This new crypto-malware relies on a modular and complex infection engine that scans the infected system first in search for any programs that could interfere with its attack. It looks for specific signatures that might belong to antivirus programs, debug environments, as well as virtual machine hosts. Once it finds them, their real-time engines will either be removed or bypassed. After these changes, it will modify some registry keys and sub-keys in the Windows Registry to make its removal difficult for users. It then scans the computer for files with specific formats such as:

After it finds its targeted files, it will encrypt them using a strong encryption cipher and adds the .[[email protected]].paradise extension to every affected file and drops a file named [email protected] which contains the following short ransom note:
Your files are encrypted!
Your personal ID:
[random characters] Your personal KEY:
How is the malicious payload of Paradise ransomware disseminated?
The malicious payload of Paradise ransomware may be disseminated using malicious spam email campaigns. Its developers attach an obfuscated attachment to emails that once opened, will run a malicious script on computers which will launch Paradise ransomware. This is why you need to be more careful in opening and downloading attachments from suspicious-looking emails as they might contain Paradise’s malicious payload.
Carefully follow each one of the removal steps prepared below to obliterate Paradise ransomware from your computer successfully.
Step 1: Tap Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to launch the Task Manager.
Step 2: Go to the Processes and Applications tab and look for the malicious processes of Paradise ransomware then right click on them and select End Process or End Task.
Step 3: Close the Task Manager and open Control Panel by pressing the Windows key + R, then type in appwiz.cpl and then click OK or press Enter.
Step 4: Look for dubious programs that might be related to Paradise ransomware and then Uninstall it/them.

Step 6: After opening File Explorer, navigate to the following directories below and look for Paradise ransomware’s malicious components such as [email protected] which contains the ransom note and other suspicious-looking files and then remove them all.

Try to recover your encrypted files using the Volume Shadow copies
Restoring your encrypted files using Windows’ Previous Versions feature will only be effective if Paradise ransomware hasn’t deleted the shadow copies of your files. But still, this is one of the best and free methods there is, so it’s definitely worth a shot.
To restore the encrypted file, right-click on it and select Properties, a new window will pop-up, then proceed to Previous Versions. It will load the file’s previous version before it was modified. After it loads, select any of the previous versions displayed on the list like the one in the illustration below. And then click the Restore button.
