What is Scarab Turkish ransomware? And how does it execute its attack?

Scarab Turkish ransomware is the latest addition to the Scarab ransomware family. This new variant, as its name suggests, is a Turkish variant of Scarab which uses an improved encryption algorithm used to lock important data in a computer. Except for the extension and ransom note, nothing much has changed in this new malware strain as it still uses the same behavior patterns as those of the previous variants.
The instant it is able to infect a system, it drops its malicious payload and employs a data gathering module which is designed to obtain data classified into two such as personal user data and campaign metrics. The information it obtains is used for stealth protection to scan the system for a signature of security programs that might interfere with its attack. It then modifies some registry entries and sub-keys in the Windows Registry making sure that it can run on every system startup. Once all these changes are applied, the encryption process begins. After the encryption, it appends the .[[email protected]] extension and releases a ransom note named “HOW TO RECOVER ENCRYPTED FILES.txt” which reads:

How does Scarab Turkish ransomware proliferate?
Like all other Scarab variants, this one also proliferates using spam emails. These spam emails often contain an infected attachment like a PDF file, executable file, ZIP file or a document that once opened, will launch Scarab Turkish ransomware into the computer. This is why you must take time to double check emails first before opening their attached files.
Obliterate Scarab Turkish ransomware from your computer by following the removal instructions below.
Step 1: Tap the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys to open a menu and then expand the Shutdown options which is right next to the power button.

Step 14: Delete the registry keys and sub-keys created by Scarab Turkish ransomware.
Step 15: Close the Registry Editor and empty the contents of the Recycle Bin.
