Don’t have a webcam on your computer? Need a webcam on your computer? I’ve got the solution for you.
If you have an Android tablet or smartphone, you can easily use your handset as a webcam.
In fact, setting up your Android as a webcam is surprisingly easy. You don’t need to root Android or perform too many complicated steps.
Follow the steps listed below to easily turn your favorite Android handset into a webcam today:
Step 1) Download an app called IP Webcam from the Google Play Store (it’s free)
Step 2) Open the app on your smartphone or tablet
Step 3) When you first open IP Webcam, you’ll see a bunch of different options and settings. By default, these settings will work just fine, but you may want to configure them to meet your unique needs (if you’re filming in low light environments, for example, you might want to enhance night vision mode). You can also set up sensitivity, motion detection, and other tools to turn your Android camera into a security cam.
Step 4) Once you’ve configured settings, scroll down to the bottom and tap the ‘Start Server’ button
Step 5) You should see a stream of your Android’s camera overlaid with an IP address. You can also see the number of video and audio connections currently viewing the feed.

Step 6) Open a web browser on your computer and type in the IP address displayed on the IP Webcam app
Step 7) Under the Video Renderer section, click ‘Browser’ and then click ‘HTML5Wav’ from the audio player section.
Step 8) If you’ve done everything correctly, you’ll now be viewing the feed from your Android webcam directly in your computer’s browser.
You can use IP Webcam to perform a diverse range of valuable functions. You can record video feeds, zoom-in, focus on objects, and more.

Some will use IP Webcam as a webcam to talk to friends. Others will use it as a security cam when they’re not at home. Setup your android tablet somewhere in your home and then activate it whenever motion is detected, for example.
Whether you’re protecting yourself from a home invasion or just watching your pets from the office, IP Webcam can be an extremely valuable tool.
