My99tab.com Redirect: What is it?

Developers present the my99tab.com as an Internet search engine and claims that it significantly improves the browsing experience by generating much  improved results. Based on the appearance alone, my99tab.com  appears to be  legitimate and useful, however, this website is promoted via rogue download/installation set-ups mainly developed to hijack browser settings and change various options. Moreover, it continually keep tracks information relating to browsing activity.
The  set-ups target most likely the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. Following infiltration, they change the setting and as they assign the new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage options to my99tab.com. Set-ups then append this URL to the target of each browser shortcut and then automatically redirects the users to my99tab.com upon  opening a new browser tab and/or search via the URL bar. These redirects absolutely and significantly diminish the browsing experience since it brings hassle and annoyances. Additionally, users are unable to change back these changes to the desired default setting, since set-ups stealthily install a number of “helper objects” such as the third party applications and/or browser plug-ins and to reassign the aforementioned settings when attempts are made to change them back. Thus, returning browsers to their previous states becomes impossible. Another thing it does is information tracking which is risky. Helper objects and my99tab.com continually keep track on the IP addresses, URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information that might contain personal details, and these developers share this information with third parties which are potentially, cyber criminals who generate revenue by misusing and disposing personal information. Generally, information tracking can possibly  lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. If you encounter unwanted redirects to my99tab.com, immediately do something about it, uninstall all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins, and never return to this site.
There are a number of fake Internet search engines virtually identical or at least similar to my99tab.com including, for example, websearchinc.net, weemi.com, trotux.com, and powerfulsearch.net, and all of them claim to improve the browsing experience by generating improved search results. But take note, however, that websites such as my99tab.com are purposely created only to generate revenue for the developers and are useless for regular users. Fake search engines merely cause unwanted redirects and continually record various user-system information and most annoyingly, appearance of endless pop-ups and redirections. In addition, some generate results leading to malicious websites that can be more  harmful and dangerous. Therefore, using a fake Internet search engine might result in high-risk computer infections and worst slowdowns and computer crash.

The my99tab.com is primarily promoted via rogue download/installation set-ups. This deceptive marketing tactics is called “bundling”.  All the information regarding modification of browser settings are hidden by the developers  within the “Custom” or “Advanced” options of the download or installation processes. Rushing and skipping this section grants set-ups permission to modify various browser settings, exposes systems to risk of various infections, and compromises users’ privacy, so always take time to read everything prior to proceeding to the installation process.

Prevention of My99tab.com browser hijacker infection

Generally, the My99tab.com browser hijacker is actively distributed with free programs, which is part of the installer of these programs. So it’s very much  important that when installing an unknown program even downloaded from known or big hosting web-site to carefully read the Terms of use and the Software license or ever step in the process, as well as to select the Manual, Advanced or Custom installation method. In this way, you can disable the setup of unneeded modules and programs and to simply protect your system from such browser hijackers like  the My99tab.com. Unluckily, most users when installing unknown applications rush things and would simply click the Next button, and don’t read any information that the free software display them during its installation. This leads to the fact that the web-browser settings may be replaced and web browser’s home page will be modified, as well as the newtab page and search engine by default set to My99tab.com.
