Here come the launch date speculations. In the weeks leading up to the release of Windows 10, people have run out of things to talk about.
We already know that Microsoft will release Windows 10 in “late July” thanks to the slip by AMD’s CEO. But according to one man’s theory, Windows 10 will release on July 23, 2015
That release date speculation comes from PCPro.co.uk. It wasn’t chosen at random, and the date was based on careful research. Here’s why they think the Windows 10 release date will be July 23, 2015.
-Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10 will launch in summer 2015 in 190 countries around the world
-AMD’s president and CEO Lisa Su has already revealed (accidentally) that Windows 10 is coming “at the end of July”
-Microsoft has only released operating systems in July twice in its history. It released Windows NT 3.1 on July 27, 1993, and it released Windows 7 on July 22, 2009.
-The back to school season begins in the third week of July or the week before, depending on the store
-Rumors have stated that OEMs are expecting to have a finished version of Windows 10 by June, 2015, in order to ship devices for the vital back to school shopping season
-No matter the year or the month, Microsoft has almost always launched its operating systems on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. In the past two decades, Windows 8 and 8.1 have been the only ones launched on a Friday. Thursday is the most common day of launch.
-This pinpoints the most likely dates for Windows 10 release as either July 21 – 23 or July 28 – 30, 2015
PCPro chose the earlier date range due to the back to school season.
Making the release date a little more interesting is the fact that Microsoft insider Mary Jo Foley at ZDNet has claimed that Windows 10 will release in two waves: the first wave will take place in summer 2015 while the second wave will take place later this fall.
The second wave will be a free update preceded by many smaller updates. This will likely get the ball rolling on Microsoft’s plan to issue frequent smaller updates to Windows as opposed to multiple larger updates every few years.
So there you have it: Microsoft Windows 10 will definitely be releasing on July 23, 2015 and that’s 100% confirmed.
